5 Essential Oil Blends I Can’t Live Without + How To Make Them

Once you realize what a difference essential oils can make in your daily life, it is hard to go to anywhere without a huge bag full of all your favourites. For that reason, these roller bottle blends come in really handy when you’re on the go!

Even if I’m just going out to the store, I will probably have at least 2 of these blends in my bag. The wonderful thing is that these blends are multi-functional. Many of the oils also act as adaptogens – meaning they are non-specific remedies that can help the body adapt to long term stress and environmental factors.

Quality Essential Oils

Always make sure you’re using the most pure essential oils… After all, anything that goes on your body, should be good enough to go in your body. This is why I choose to use and share Young Living essential oils, over any other oil company – they are the most pure essential oils in the world!

Do you know – I actually used to use oils from the local grocery stores. But as I started researching, I learned that the purity of oils is something that’s actually quite important. Have you heard of Young Living seed to seal promise? It’s something that literally won me over. Read more about their Seed to Seal quality here.

I love about making roller bottle blends because they are so simple – you can make these rollers up in a matter of 2 minutes. Once you start to grow an essential oil collection, it feels so empowering to have these natural remedies at your fingertips when someone in your family gets sick or needs help managing stress.

For labels I order from Simply Essentials Co. , an etsy shop based in Alberta, Canada. Her simple labels are beautiful, and simple.

These blends are based on a 10 ml roller bottle. The best way to blend oils is to fill the roller bottle 1/2 way with fractionated coconut oil (0r your choice of carrier oil – sweet almond oil is also nice). Then add the essential oils. After the essential oils are added, fill the remaining space with your carrier oil.

1. Headache Melt

This is a blend I NEVER leave behind. It is good for so many things! Young Living lavender and marjoram are both classified as natural health products in Canada to help relieve headaches. Peppermint is very cooling on the temples, and copaiba helps magnify the effects of the other oils in this blend.

2. Breathe Blend

This is great year round – for coughs and colds in the winter, and seasonal congestion in spring and fall. You will never find me without my breathe roll-on. This blend converted me into an essential oil-lover last year, and I can’t imagine what I would do without it! Today I am home from work with a cold, and I have been rolling this on my chest, neck, and wrists all day long! It works wonders.

3. Liquid Sleep

This blend is truly well named. Vetiver adds deep, woodsy notes to this calming and grounding blend. Lavender and cedarwood are both very well known for their calming properties – both act as a nervine and calmative on there nervous system. Frankincense is commonly used in meditation and yoga practices, and is very soothing + grounding. Vetiver is a good oil to help balance the root chakra.

4. Dream Big

Hints of citrus give this beautiful floral blend an uplifting and calming aroma. I like to wear this as a natural perfume. Joy and sara are both wonderful oils for the heart chakra. Brings balance, acceptance, appreciation + self love.

    1. Hi Corie! Good question… You can apply these rollers to your wrists, chest, neck, even the bottoms of your feet. Essential oils absorb well through the bottom of your feet and can enter the bloodstream even faster! 🙂

    1. I use the Young Living Eucalyptus Globulus. A couple drops of Eucalyptus Blue wouldn’t hurt either if you have it, I know if is a key ingredient in the YL Breathe Again roll-on!

  1. I love that even though you’re promoting Young Living, you are giving recipes for blends that can be made from any brand, since you aren’t using premixed blends in your blends. Thank you!

    1. I usually use fractionated coconut oil for all my roller bottle blends. Sweet almond oil is also nice carrier oil and works well!

      1. Hi Jasmine. I was wondering with the Stress away, how many drops do you do for 10 ml bottles. Does 10 sound efficient?

      2. Hi Billi! 10 sounds good – really it is all up to you. There is no correct or incorrect dosage – I add as many as I like, to make it as strong as I want. For myself I might do somewhere closer to 15, but it is all personal preference!

I am about to make your blend of liquid sleep and I was wondering what the dilution ratio would be for this blend. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

      5 drops frankincense
Fill to top with fractionated coconut oil or your choice of carrier oil!

  3. Did you change your Liquid Sleep blend? The vetiver & cedarwood drops have changed since I first made this blend.

    1. Hey Lori! You know what – I did. I made that recipe quite a while ago, and I find that you really only need a little bit of vetiver. I find it is more economical this way as well. If you like the old recipe, by all means make it that way. It is always good to get creative with your blends, don’t be afraid to experiment!! 🙂
